In depth
What it does
A synthetic succinimide derivative used in eye-area cosmetics to help reduce the appearance of dark circles by aiding clearance of iron-containing blood pigments. As an humectant ingredient, it is particularly valued for used in eye creams to help reduce the appearance of dark circles and under-eye inflammation and helps solubilize and clear iron-containing pigments linked to dark circles.
Skin type guide
Works across all skin types, but is especially beneficial for dry and dehydrated skin. Oily skin types also benefit — proper hydration helps regulate sebum production.
How to use it
Apply to slightly damp skin to maximise moisture retention — humectants work by drawing water to the skin, so they need a water source to pull from. Use early in your routine, before heavier creams or oils.
