Every ingredient SkinAtlas knows about — all 2402 of them. What each one does, what it works well with, and what to watch for.
A multi-functional sunscreen ingredient (commercial name Synoxyl HSS) that acts as a photostabilizer and SPF booster while providing antioxidant benefits.
A triester of trimethylolpropane and isostearic acid used as an emollient and skin-conditioning agent that provides a rich, smooth skin feel without heaviness.
A cross-linked silicone resin film-former that creates a durable, water-resistant, flexible film on skin, widely used in long-wear makeup and sunscreens.
A citric acid ester of octyldodecanol used as a lightweight emollient with a silky, non-greasy finish.
A short synthetic tripeptide that mimics a collagen fragment, used in anti-aging formulations to support collagen production and skin resilience.
A synthetic tripeptide incorporating citrulline; targets the extracellular matrix to improve skin firmness and elasticity by supporting fibulin-7-mediated collagen organization.
A synthetic tripeptide included in multi-peptide anti-aging complexes. Tripeptide-2 has been researched for anti-senescence activity — inhibiting proteins associated with cellular aging — complementing the matrix-building and neuromodulating effects of other peptides in pore-refining ampoule formulas.
A short synthetic tripeptide used in prestige anti-aging ampoules. Tripeptide-3 exerts its effects via neuromodulating pathways, complementing other anti-wrinkle peptides such as Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 in multi-peptide complexes targeting expression lines and skin firmness.
A synthetic tripeptide (Pro-Ser-Thr) marketed as Chronolux, used in anti-aging formulations for its skin-conditioning properties and claimed circadian rhythm-modulating activity.
Tris(Tetramethylhydroxypiperidinol) Citrate is a citrate salt of a hindered amine light stabilizer (HALS) based on the tetramethylhydroxypiperidinol moiety. In retinol-containing cosmetics it functions as a radical chain-breaking stabilizer that protects retinol from photochemical and oxidative degradation, significantly extending product stability and efficacy. This is a formulation stability additive — it does not have direct skin benefit but preserves the activity of retinol.
An insoluble organic UV filter with broad-spectrum UVA+UVB protection. Photostable — does not degrade on UV exposure. Used in Japanese and European sunscreens. Related to Tinosorb S. Not yet FDA-approved for US market.
A low-molecular-weight, linear volatile silicone (three siloxane units) used as a lightweight emollient and carrier to improve formula spreadability and the feel of moisturizers and sunscreens.
A stable amphiphilic vitamin C derivative (combination of ascorbic acid, palmitic acid, and phosphoric acid) that delivers antioxidant and brightening benefits while resisting oxidative degradation.
A trisodium salt of EDTA used as a chelating agent (metal ion sequestrant) that improves formula stability, prevents degradation, and enhances preservative systems. Distinct from Disodium EDTA (one fewer sodium).
A biodegradable chelating agent used as a greener alternative to disodium EDTA to bind trace metals and improve preservative performance in cosmetics.
An extract from the seeds of Triticum aestivum (common wheat) containing phytosterols, lipids, and antioxidant compounds that condition and support the skin barrier.
An extract from wheat bran rich in B-vitamins, tocopherols, and ferulic acid. Used as a soothing and conditioning agent with mild antioxidant properties.
An extract from the germ (embryo) of Triticum vulgare (common wheat), concentrated in tocopherols, phytosterols, and fatty acids; provides antioxidant and conditioning benefits. Distinct from Triticum Vulgare Seed Extract (whole seed) and Triticum Vulgare Germ Oil.
Extract from sprouted Triticum vulgare (wheat) grains. Germination increases concentrations of antioxidants and phytochemicals, particularly ferulic acid and superoxide dismutase precursors.
An organic amine used as a pH adjuster and buffering agent in cosmetic formulations.
An organic antimicrobial compound used as a preservative or preservative booster in cosmetics, typically combined with phenoxyethanol for broad-spectrum protection.
An essential amino acid (L-tryptophan) included in cosmetic amino acid complexes that mimic the skin's natural moisturizing factor, providing conditioning and supporting protein synthesis.
An extract from the Italian white truffle (Tuber magnatum), rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamins, used in premium skincare for anti-aging, hydration, and radiance.
A polysaccharide derived from tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa). Functions as a humectant and film-former, providing intense moisturization and a silky skin feel. Used in premium Kanebo formulations.
